Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's 21 titles have been earned on hard surfaces

A revitalized Medvedev secured his maiden championship for nearly 30 months with success over Corentin Moutet in the competition championship match.

The Russian, a ex- number one, has endured a difficult year, winning just one match at the major tournaments and suffering a difficult moment at the US Open.

Medvedev's inconsistency on the ATP Tour - and issues with his serving in particular - caused him exiting of the world's top 10 and eventually separating with long-term coach Gilles Cervara.

Now working with Johansson and his other coach, the tennis star has consistently progressed in the past month - climaxing in a hard-fought competitive victory over opponent Moutet.

This marks Medvedev's initial championship after the Italian tournament and initial on a hardcourt after March of that year.

The win also means he has achieved 21 victories at twenty-one different tournaments.

"For the first time I am participating in a event with my two daughters together, so to win a trophy is particularly special," commented tennis professional Daniil Medvedev.

"This title is in honour of my child her name, because the initial championship I won when my first daughter her name was born was for her."

The athlete, the 2021 US Open champion, had lost his past six championship matches, featuring in Halle previously this season.

His retrieving play style and regular reactions on the playing surface had led some to doubt if his ability to play at the highest level was finished.

But the athlete has altered his approach in recent weeks, making an effort to advance forward and perform assertively, backed up by an better service.

The champion recovered from a break down in the opening set against the challenging Moutet, winning 4 of the final five points to gain the advantage.

The competitors swapped service breaks in the second set before the Frenchman, attempting for his first tour victory, gained dominance to force a decider.

The opponent defended 4 initial opportunities in a close deciding set before the champion won the break to that score to serve for the match.

Appropriately, Medvedev clinched victory with a shot at the front of the court, with Moutet incapable to control a volley after two hours and 38 minutes.
